Disordered breathing

If you experience any of these symptoms you may suffer from a breathing pattern disorder:

Sighs

Yawning

Breath holding

Feelings of breathlessness

Difficulty taking a breath

Disordered breathing can co-exist with other respiratory conditions. Disordered breathing happens when upper chest breathing, typically faster and often through the mouth, becomes the primary pattern.

Altered breathing patterns can lead to a range of symptoms including:

  • Dizziness
  • Anxiety
  • Tingling sensation
  • Chest pain
  • Tension
  • Blurred vision
  • A sense of being overwhelmed
  • Persistent unease

The first step in managing and restoring normal breathing is to practice breathing retraining. At Onerahi Physio we have a trained Bradcliff Breathing Technique practitioner who is available to teach you how to restore your breathing to a relaxed baseline, which can enhance your physical and mental well-being.
